McDonald’s fans are rejoicing in the return of a mouth-watering favorite after a 5-year hiatus

After five long years, gluttons of spice can rejoice.

McDonald’s is reportedly bringing back its fan-favorite fiery chicken nuggets, but with an added kick.

The prominent — and usually correct — social media foodie known as Snackolator revealed that the fast food behemoth is reintroducing one of its most delicious duos after five years off the menu: Spicy Chicken McNuggets and the Mighty Hot Sauce.

The fast food aficionado posted on Instagram a picture of McDonald’s alleged fall menu lineup with a slew of dirty sodas, new flavored coffees and the coveted spicy nuggets. The social media star claims the nuggets will be released next month.

“McDonald’s is about to expand their drinks in a HUGE way along with the return of SPICY McNuggets… and Mighty Hot Sauce!” Snackolater’s post read.

“In September we’re finally getting Spicy McNuggets and this time they’re bringing back the Mighty Hot Sauce (artwork will likely be different this time),” they added.

The Spicy Chicken McNuggets were last seen on menus back in 2024 and were breaded with a “sizzling tempura coating” made with both cayenne and chili peppers. McDonald’s said the favorite “packed plenty of flavor and spice into each bite.”

For dunking enthusiasts, the last time customers saw the Mighty Hot Sauce was in February 2021. The sauce boasts a powerful blend of crushed red pepper and cayenne peppers, with savory garlic and a hint of sweetness.

The big burger joint said it’s the hottest available dipping sauce and its first new sauce since 2017.

It’s not the first time the chain hit its customers with spice. Spicy Chicken McNuggets were introduced in 2020, marking the joint’s first-ever McNugget flavor innovation since nuggets were added in 1983.

During the company’s 40-year nugget history, its popular Chicken McNuggets have seen a few different iterations. Fans have become obsessed with rolling dipping sauces like Tangy Barbeque, Honey Mustard, Sweet ‘N Sour and its Spicy Buffalo.

The Post reached out to McDonald’s to confirm the spicy nuggets will be returning, but has not heard back.

But heat seekers aren’t the only ones getting a surprise. Sweet drinkers will see a Caramel Apple Pie latte or frappe with a new caramel apple syrup, salted caramel whipped cream and apple pie pieces on top.

Customers will also score a Dirty Diet Dr Pepper at locations that carry Diet Dr Pepper. Dirty sodas are a craze where a soft drink base gets mixed with flavored syrups, cream or creamer.

Next up is the new Vanilla Swirl Coca-Cola and Diet Coke that features vanilla flavoring and cold foam. Additionally, Fanta will now be an option for its Orange Dream, which also comes stacked with vanilla and cold foam.

The social media star also claimed a Red Bull collaboration is underway with its new Dragonberry Energizer. This is a blue raspberry flavor with dragonfruit pieces — available in regular or zero sugar — with cans of Red Bull sold separately.

Snackolater had a flood of comments, including one claiming to be a McDonald’s manager writing, “As a McDonald’s manager, I can confirm these!!”

Another alleged manager commented, “As a department manager spicy nuggets Sept. 1 caramel apple date late August Redbull is 8/17 officially soft sell is [a] week earlier.”

Since many locations are independently operated, it’s best to check with your local store, as items may change based on the store and state.
