Meet Lee Hyun-Jung, Spurs’ sharpshooter with fastest release you’ve ever seen originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

It’s the point of the NBA Summer League schedule in Las Vegas when some sleeper players can step into the spotlight.

For the San Antonio Spurs, Lee Hyun-Jung fits that bill.

He’s got one of the quickest shooting releases you’ll ever see.

And in the Spurs’ most recent game, he dropped 22 points while letting it fly from deep:

This doesn’t guarantee anything about Lee making any rosters, but he’s giving himself a chance.

Who is Lee Hyun-Jung?

Lee is a 25-year old wing from South Korea.

He actually played his college basketball at Davidson, but he went undrafted in 2022.

Lee won a championship in Australia’s NBL with the Illawarra Hawks in 2025.

He now plays for Nagasaki Velca in Japan’s top division. They just won the Japanese championship, and Lee was the Championship MVP.

That earned him a chance with the Spurs, where he’s showing that his shooting can play anywhere.
