It’s Wordle Wednesday, dearest Wordlers, which means I have an extra riddle for you. Here it is, a riddle Odin (it is Odin’s Day, after all) presented to King Heithrek:

“From home I hied me, and from home faring I saw a way of ways: Was a way beneath and a way above, and ways there were on all sides. Alright guess now this riddle, Heithrek!”

Of what does Odin speak?

I’ll post the answer tomorrow. For now, let’s Wordle!

Today’s Wordle Answer: Wednesday, August 5

Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.

The SLIME was actually very effective in today’s game of Wordle Nickelodeon Slime Edition. Just 28 words left, though I didn’t know that at the time. I guessed ADORN next and later it occurred to me that perhaps ACORN would have been better. But it didn’t matter in the end. POSIT was the only possible answer remaining. Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

Just like yesterday, I get 1 point for guessing in three and 1 for beating the Bot. The Bot loses 1 for losing to me and gains none for guessing in four. The August tally is now:

Erik: 5 points

Wordle Bot: 2 points

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

“Posit” comes from Latin positus, the past participle of ponere, meaning “to place” or “to put.” It entered English in the 17th century with the sense of “to put forward” or “to assume as true,” especially as the basis for an argument or theory.
